FAQ

General Information

  • Q
How do I know if a moving company is legit?
    A

Online scammers (called brokers) advertise on the internet. They will make verbal promises (NOT legal) they cannot keep. They offer you a lower cost for moving services, and IF a truck comes to move you, the price gets changed and you are stuck. Hopefully, you will see your things at destination.

DO YOUR RESEARCH. Investigate the company you are considering hiring. Check the Better Business Bureau, Diamond Certified, Yelp, and other online rating services. Stay with movers who are agents for large interstate van lines.

Licensed movers will visit your residence at no cost to you. They abide by the rules and regulations by putting their estimates in writing.

NEVER submit a deposit to a moving company.

  • Q
    How much does moving cost?
    A

Moving costs vary from shipment to shipment. A local move (within 50 miles) is done by the hour, over 50 miles WITHIN the state of California is regulated by the Public Utilities Commission and charged by weight and miles. Moves between states (interstate) is done by weight and miles. Only a licensed professional can legally estimate those charges with a visit to your residence.

  • Q
How much lead time do I need to give the mover?
    A

During the busy summer months (May through September), give the mover as much lead time as possible to assure you get the moving dates you need. During the rest of the year, we can usually book with a week or two notice.

  • Q
How do you treat special items?
    A

The solution will depend on the particular article. One option is to double box the special item by packing it into a smaller box, then placing it inside a larger box for more protection. Another option is our custom crating services which include slat and solid side crating for high value and breakable items such as paintings, glass table tops, and more.

  • Q
When is the best time to move?
    A

Springtime is the best time to move! This is because the weather is nice, there are more hours of daylight, and the heat of summer has not set in yet. You can also beat the summer rush and lock in better pricing for your move.

  • Q
    Can you move internationally?
    A

We can move internationally, domestically within the United States, and locally within the state of California.

  • Q
Do you offer climate controlled storage or moving vans?
    A

No, we do not have climate control for our storage or our moving trucks, however, temperature inside stays consistent with the outdoor temperature.

  • Q
When am I supposed to pay for my move?
    A

We require that our clients pay for their move once it has been picked up and we have a planned delivery date for them. We do not require any deposits and we encourage anyone to stay away from moving companies that request that. Our drivers cannot begin delivery until it is confirmed that the client has paid for the move

  • Q
How do I pay for my move?
    A

As the delivery date for a client’s move comes closer, we will contact the client to advise them of their final moving costs and request a method of payment for the client. Our clients can call our main office at (707)584-8585 to have us securely run their credit card in the amount due at least one day ahead of the delivery date. This ensures that the driver will have payment confirmation ahead of time and avoid any delays the day of delivery. Our clients can also pay by certified check in the exact amount due given to the driver before he can begin unloading the household goods.

  • Q
Are your estimates binding or non binding?
    A

    We provide binding estimates.

A binding estimate is characterized by an estimator obtaining an itemized list, estimated weight of the goods, and services to be performed. There is an expected “not to exceed” price for shipments based on the calculated services. If there should be any changes made to the weight being moved or the services requested, the movers must obtain a change order to account for those extra services.

  • Q
    What's your #1 packing tip?
    A

Put heavier items in small boxes or group them together with large, lightweight items such as pillows to prevent injury during the move.

  • Q
What other services do you provide?
    A

We also offer final mile delivery, FF&E and OS&E receiving and delivery, furniture assembly, hotel and rental staging, and storage.

  • Q
What type of charities do you participate in?
    A

We donate to local charities in our community and we are partnered up with the Salvation Army through Allied Van Lines.

  • Q
What's the strangest thing you've ever had to move?
    A

    An airplane!
